Sports Fishing in Ecuador

Sports Fishing in Ecuador

If you love taking part in sports fishing, Ecuador is one of the best places that you should plan to visit during your next holiday. One of the highlights that make this country special is that it has numerous fishing locations and record breaking Wahoo, Marlin, and Tuna. Thousands of tourists from all across the globe who love spending quality time in the water fishing visit Ecuador at different times of the year.

Here is a brief outlook at some of the best fish sporting locations in this country.

Manta City

Manta City is the second largest coastal city after Guayaquil in Ecuador. It also takes pride in the fact that it is the largest port in the country, and houses many fisheries and oil distribution networks. The wide variety of tuna species make this city ideal for large-scale tuna sports fishing and is ranked among the top 10 exporters of tuna in the world.

Puerto Ayora

This doubles us as a tourist hub and fishing spot in Galapagos Islands. Most of the aquatic tours and cruises start here. Here, you can fish for tuna, marlin, and wahoo, but you need to have the right fishing equipment. You do not have to worry if you do not have this equipment, as there are stores that sell what you need at an affordable price. Unlike other fishing sports such as Salina, there is no beach worth a mention in Puerto Ayora; Playa de La Estacion has beaches packed with rocks. When going fishing in this area, it is recommended to have quality waterproof footwear to protect your feet from injuries. Some of the rocks have razor-sharp edges that won’t hesitate to tear your skin.

Other remarkable fishing spots in Ecuador include Salinas, Cajas National Park, Patate, Pintag, Lloa, Posorja, and the list continues. Be sure to plan well for the trip to get the best sport fishing experience.
